The sudden, gentle contact on his overly sensitive ear was enough to make him shudder and bite his tongue to hold back a sound he knew would make things awkward and tense. The flame flickered and went out just as his cheeks began to become inflamed with an intense blush. He placed both hands on the crate and gave it a simple push, frowning when it didn’t budge. He took that as an opportunity to grasp her hand and place it on the cool wood of the crate.
“I’ll try my best not to collapse on you from a heart-attack.” He said, looking in her general direction. “Now let’s get this off the stone slab…”
She missed it. By the Gods, she missed the chance to see his cheeks glow under the gentle caress of the ember flicker. If she did, he wouldn’t be able to live it down - at least with the time they were given. Her touch faltered and Sarah started to chuckle at his response, but shook her head and with-held any inappropriate comment. She focused at the task at hand, which was to get the crate away from the stone portal.
Moving to the side, she pushed it a bit away from the stone wall and tried not to make such a racket when it scraped the floor. She cringed at the sound, hoping that it did not resonate too far past the door in which they came from nor into the caverns in which she was about to venture into. “First Enchanter,” she spoke up as her attention was to the crate, “I wish we had met under different circumstances, perhaps had a different outcome.” Just a bit more and they would only have one obstacle left.
