Fili blinked a few times in a surprise when he heard the response of a stranger. Bandit? Another one? He frowned and made few steps towards the crossroad but stopped then, realising the faint glow that was now coming from a place where he saw also that little explosion of light. Involuntarily he stroked one of his braids and then got his swords ready in front of him when he decided to take few more steps to the side and maybe have a look behind a corner like that. The blade gleamed in the glow of the staff when he got close enough but he still couldn’t see anything and he rather drug his swords back to the darkness, afraid of being revealed.
While all of this, Kili was just standing there, leaned against the wall and the bow in his hand lowered along his body. He was kind of tired and the pain in his head started showing itself again although just a little comparing to the days immedinately after a battle. He pressed his head against the cold stone as he was listening to his brother’s polite voice when Fili entered the shadows again and took few quick steps towards his brother while speaking thoughtfully.
“Speaking so carefully about bandits you’re not one, are you? Because if you are I could just repeat what you’ve said. But I’m not going to cause you any harm if you won’t try to cause any to us.”
He bit his lower lip then, as he had a feeling he heard some quiet steps and rather got deeper in the shadow again as bumped into Kili his eyes growing slightly as he pushed him back to the niche not caring about anything he might want to say before he got his swords ready again and turned back.
Taking a risk, Sarah started to walk further out into the open, staff in hand as her only defense. Her eyes were squinting, trying to peer into the darkness, where the voice had come from. “As long as no harm comes to me, I promise you, I come with peaceful intentions,” Sarah raised her hands up but nervously looked around, waiting for something to come at her in the dark.
“I am lost, is all. I got separated from my companion,” fingers pinched the bridge of her nose and the maiden staggered back to the cool of the wall. She had to regain her focus and not leave herself so vulnerable, but with the constant reminder of pain, this task was rather daunting.
She was not aware how many were here, for all she knew, only one man was before her and possibly someone, or a group of them, were to sneak from behind. Preparing herself, she tried to listen to any hint of movement in the area. Luckily, such corridors could carry sounds for awhile.
“I have showed myself to you,” after a few moments of silence, she began to speak again, loud and clear. “I believe it is your turn."
