Just as she believed he was not going to be going much further, seeing that he was having a bit of trouble carrying his items, Sarah stepped in a bit closer. What she didn’t anticipate was him actually stealing a glance past his shoulder.
The woman was quick, but.. not quick enough. She happen to be between two pillars and had no way to really obscure herself from view so quickly. Spinning on her heels, the fabric fluttered around her ankles until she was safely hidden in the shadows again.
“No no no..” Sarah muttered a string of curses after that, keeping it under her breath. Her heart was resounding its beat in her ears as fright assaulted. With her fingers forming fists, Sarah tried to calm herself down long enough to hear if there were retreating steps.
Seeing the flash of movement that fluttered into the darkness between two pillars, his heartbeat quickened as he dropped the satchel into the crook of his arm, then down into his palm where he set it down swiftly, his fingers twitching slightly as small strands of lightning crackled between them. Whoever was in the shadows was very likely someone, or something, dangerous.
His brow furrowed as he took a step back toward the stairs, the small strands of lightning growing into thick jolts that danced around his hand and fingers, which were pulled slightly into the shape of claws.
“Who is there?”
Think quickly, Sarah. She remained silent in the shadows, simply wishing that there was another way to avoid being seen, but the only option she had was to run back within the Courtyard - and that was not much of a choice. Walking to the nearest pillar, she pressed her body against the column’s surface and tried hide her body completely behind it.
But when she felt the slight change in the ambient, Sarah knew that he was charging a spell and if she didn’t do anything soon to stop him, they were going to cause quite a disruption. Sarah wasn’t going to simply have him attack her without retaliation. She was no fool.
With the odds against her, the mage slowly stepped out from the shadows, which clung to her frame until the light of the heavens spilled down around her. Her head was tilted down, not allowing him to really see her features, not until the hood was pulled away. The pallor of her skin was only intensified by the silver light of the moon.
A hand was brought up so that her finger pressed against the soft, rosy tiers. She was trying to signal for him to be quiet, but already, she could hear the obscenities he might be muttering.
