Castiel blinked at her bemusedly. This…was unusual. As she reached out and gently ran her fingers through his feathers, he couldn’t help the small shiver than ran up his spine. It had been a long time since anyone had touched his wings with anything other than violence in mind.
His eyes fluttered closed for a second, his wings shaking, and starved for the care that his siblings had once offered him. There was no one to sit quietly with him and brush their fingers through the tangles in his dark feathers. A longing so sudden lanced through Castiel’s chest, that he found himself letting out a shuddering breath.
He missed home.
Trying to regain his composure, he smiled weakly at the gentle soul that looked at him with such genuine concern. Him, a stranger she’d found in the middle of the forest.

But he was no delusion, he confirmed that he was indeed real.
Sarah’s eyes lifted up and her mouth parted, but words failed her terribly. Again, her gaze trailed over to his wings and then his eyes. “How is that possible. I mean, I can even touch them.” Perhaps it was her lucky night, for her eyes were opened up to something beyond her comprehension. But before she could swoon with the marvelous thought that she could see angels, she almost forgot that she had invaded his space.
Her hands folded at her chest and she shook her head, “I didn’t mean to touch them! I thought they were rather beautiful, and I just.. I never seen anything like them before. I apologize!” Sarah tried not to look into his eyes, for him to see her so flustered. “Are you feeling better?” Sarah stole a few glances from the corner of her eyes at his direction.
His wings mourned the loss of the gentle touch, but Castiel’s lips quirked up slightly as the girl stammered an apology....
She shook her head and smiled, softly kissing his forehead before leaving the room, humming quietly. She’d come back to...
