His wings mourned the loss of the gentle touch, but Castiel’s lips quirked up slightly as the girl stammered an apology. “It’s alright. I don’t mind.” His eyes softened and he studied her with renewed interest as he felt his vision clear. His head didn’t ache as much anymore.
“You must be special, somehow. Something about you is different from everyone else.” Perhaps if he’d been at full strength, he would have been able to figure out why she could see and touch his wings when no other human could. But he was tired, and could only satisfy his curiosity by asking his own questions.
Once again, the girl’s concern made something tight in his chest loosen, and his wings relaxed slightly. “I’m fine.” He was feeling much better than only moments ago. He just needed to sit quietly for a moment, and wait for his…batteries, to charge.
Had she known that he enjoyed the innocent caress along his feathered appendages, Sarah wouldn’t have easily given herself to regret. She thought it had been something terrible to touch the angel, but he reassured her that it was all right. A sigh of relief parted her lips, which had recently been pressed firmly together.
She would try to hide her excitement, how her heart drummed loudly in her very ears at the thought of talking to this celestial creature. This truly felt like a dream, one that easily rivaled the nightmares that she faced when darkness took her each evening.
“Special?” His words snapped her attention back to him, causing the woman to question his words. “You think I have something special about me? Oh! I am nothing special, really." Except I see more than I rather admit. That part she excluded from saying to him. Really, she didn’t want him to think she was crazy - she had enough people believe she was cracked. "I guess I am lucky,” she said sincerely, “Lucky to have had a chance to meet an actual angel. Hopefully, this doesn’t mean you intend on taking me away just yet,” Sarah nervously laughed and tried to rest her fumbling hands on Aunduin’s head.
