Already, Sarah was preparing herself to leave in order to escort the First Enchanter back to the Gallows, where she admitted, he truly belonged in. Dealings in the night were not for everyone, but several that preferred the blanket of darkness, found it to be the best time of day. Orsino didn’t seem like the sort that would enjoy running free through the shadows with her, to feel, to touch, to taste freedom without tethers binding them to their duties. She felt guilt, the same as the night when he found her, building within her chest. The ache caused a slight from to now cross her lips, draining her features of the light they once held.
But something changed just as she began to take her first steps, something in his voice. Sarah stopped immediately, given that her back was still to him, and simply listened. The dull pain evaporated like rain introduced to the torrid heat. He caused a bit of a familiar warmth to rise along her speckled cheeks as a frown was soon replaced with a small smile. “Flee?” Did she hear him properly? Of course she did.It was then that Sarah turned to face him with a devious smile and a come-hither stare that hinted at dangerously pleasant ideas. With a defiant lift of her chin, she sauntered back to face him fully and met his gaze. “Are you ready for this?” Sarah didn’t wait for his answer and reached for his hand, clutching it firmly in her own. Fingers intertwined as she spun and faced the roads that lead away from the dock. “First Enchanter, I think you have won my heart by simply surprising me this evening,” she spoke in jest but her smile was wide and offered more than mere joking.Whether it was banter or not, she already started to reel him closer so that they moved quickly and were not easily separated. The shadows offered a cool comfort that Sarah enjoyed, and with them both dressed in rich, dark colors, it was easier to maneuver along the walls without drawing the eye of any bandits lingering in the streets. He followed her the best he could, obviously not as skilled at stealth as she was, but he managed to keep in tow, falling behind only once when there was a familiar pack of bandits darted by them as they slunk through the darkest of shadows. He suppressed a chuckle every time they managed to creep past someone.
It was immensely amusing.
“Where are we heading?” He asked softly.
“Past your city walls!” She said all too excitedly as her heart rang with that all too familiar rush of adrenaline. Her hand held his firmly and made sure he kept close so that unwelcome attention was not drawn so easily in their direction. There were certain points that Sarah stopped abruptly and placed a finger to her lips when glancing back at him. It was during those times that if the light from above fell on her face, he could see the twinkle of mischief in her gaze.
Getting past the guards had not been too difficult, deceiving them was much easier than the bandits - which took a bit more cunning. They made it through the streets of Hightown, down the steps to Lowtown. Maneuvering in the evening here was troublesome since this part of Kirkwall was a labyrinth that one could easily lose themselves in if not careful.
During their adventure, she pointed out the direction which lead to the alienage and passed a few shanty towns that the darkness of the walls kept under a shadow’s embrace. It was surprising that they had made it this far without drawing the gaze of many, though if they constantly moved - then trouble couldn’t catch up.
Finally, past the walls, after patiently waiting the changing of the guard, Sarah head lead him to one of the roads leading into Kirkwall itself. The Wounded Coast. Or Injured Cliffs, as she heard some say. It was a perilous road, since it took you to broken cliffs that harbored delinquents who were known to attack innocent travelers.
But before Sarah would lead him to such a dangerous area, she had to scan the area first, for the night did well to hide potential predators. From the southern pass, the sky was beautiful and clear, letting its light wash over the scenery below.
“Now, where is he..” She took cautious steps forward and slowly released Orsino’s hand so she could let him roam without being tethered to her. Soft, low whistles, came from her lips. It was not loud enough to draw attention, but with silence surrounding them, the sound could carry further than intended.
