firstenchanterofkirkwall:

He shielded his face from the dust and debris with an upraised arm, clamping his eyes shut until the leathery beat of it’s wings faded from above them. Watching the dragon fly away was slightly anti-climactic, up until the point it slammed it’s damned tail into one of the crashed ships. His gaze remained in the direction of the dragon long after it was out of eyesight.

When his attention finally returned to her and the relentless slam of adrenaline and fear had ceased in his chest he took note of the change in her voice and face. Seeing such a difference in the fiery young woman brought the crease of worry and self-blame to his features once more, even more-so when she asked of his own well-being.

“Quite…” A hand fell to her shoulder. “Are you?”

The entrance was far more grand than the exit, but it didn’t need to announce itself upon leaving - it already warded off any malicious characters lurking in the dark. Temporarily, they were alone here, sharing the darkness of the night and wrapped under the glow of the moon. The thought of being spotted was the last thing on her mind. Recovering energy that was used for this show-and-tell session took priority.

The touch of his hand let her know that he seemed fine, though that was only the exterior. What inquiries left in the silence of his thoughts was something completely different. Inside, what was he thinking? Finally, gathering her composure, Sarah slowly nods and stepped close to him. The initial motion hinted toward intimacy, but it was simply to have him be a pillar - if she was allowed to lean into his slender frame.

“I need but a moment,” the glowing had subsided in her face and began to withdraw from the slope of her neck, her shoulders and areas hidden under the layers of her cloak and dress. Aunduin whined quietly, though silenced himself as he tried to listen to the sounds of the night - for soon they would no longer be safe.

And time was running short for both Sarah and the First Enchanter.

With each shallow breath, the summoner started to retrieve strength momentarily lost. To pit her will against that of a wyvern was no simple task - failure to keep it under her control was never an option. She took a risk with the First Enchanter, but she would not admit to that.

Her fire had been snuffed out, for she did not seem to be in such high spirits, in which she was notorious for, but her exhaustion could be held responsible for that fact. Stable breaths now replaced once ragged ones and while she looked up to the elf with a smirk. “Aunduin will follow us to ensure no harm come to us.”
